Interview Questions
- How do interpersonal connections play into your business ?
- Are there any unexpected challenges you faced when starting out?
- How did starting this career as young as you did help you be more independent?
- What is something that people wouldn’t expect to know about your field?
- Favorite memory in your career?
- How did you start your career?
The first reason why I chose my cousin Megan is because I really wanted to be different with this interview. Not only did I think that it would be a great interview but I thought because of her outgoing personality and her career in the cannabis industry was the perfect combination for what I wanted to do with this project.
The second reason why I chose my cousin Megan for this project was because I always admired the success that she had from being a caregiver. Not only because she was doing well for herself financially but because she achieved that success all by herself. I also admired how she was able to take a risk on something and believe in herself. Additionally, most people would not consider someone who sells marajuana as a successful person. Typically when people hear that someone they know is making their money by selling marajuana they associate them with the illegal and rougher side.I would like to help her prove that there are good people in the cannabis industry and that they all don’t associate with the negative side of the industry. I think that my cousin is living proof that there are legitimate career opportunities within the industry and that one can live a very happy and successful life by being a caregiver.
The third reason why I chose to interview my cousin is because she is extremely passionate about what she does for a living. Every time we had talked about her work she was connecting with a lot of clients and meeting new people all because of her work as a caregiver.
Audio Playground 3
For the final audio playground assignment the task was to listen to the example podcasts of a virtual self portrait and then create your own. The prompt that we were given was to look around and find various clothing items around your house and make a self portrait of what you are wearing. I decided to take the comedic route on this project and take the opportunity to use my impression of Peter Griffin from Family guy. I did what is called a “fit check” in place of using the term costume. I described what I was wearing through the voice of Peter.I chose the most obscure items that I could find which were a Pink Whitney Hockey jersey, a camouflage New England Patriots hat, shorts with no label because it was scratched off, and air jordans. I also chose to adlib the part about the two different colored socks from two separate weddings just because I thought it was funny and it was actually something that the character would say and wear proudly. I really liked the creative freedom that was given for this project and I am really happy with the result. I was inspired to use the Peter Griffin voice because of the Jazz Lizard portrait. I thought it was very interesting and it really opened my eyes to how much you can do with these audio portraits. I liked the fact that I could really take myself out from being the subject and use a very funny character in a new and funny way. I also really enjoy how I was able to do a full 45 second take without laughing. Overall this was a really entertaining project for me. I really enjoyed making this project because of the creative freedom and how that allowed me to express myself.

The assignment was to find someone that we knew who was an expert at something and interview them. The concept of the project was to branch out and try to find something beyond the “my friend is an expert at collecting Pokémon cards.” For this project I chose to interview my mom who has worked at market basket for over 30 years and has done many things in her time there. From bagging groceries, to writing the company handbook, or working in the corporate office, she has done it all. Currently she is working as the product receiver in the Concord, New Hampshire location. I found the central story of my interview when my mom and I were talking about what it was like being a female receiver. There were some things that you expect like some rude comments, or people making unprofessional remarks but in actuality those things are mostly rare occurrences. As my mom would say “ we are all doing the dance and just trying to get our jobs done.” On her receiving dock she has a presence that commemorates mutual respect and admiration and that is why she is one of the most reliable employees that the company has to offer. She is one of few female receivers in the entire company. For her hard work and extreme dedication to her job she is a widely respected person company wide. I believe that her story and her journey deserves and needs to be told.

Today I attended the Beast of the East 7v7 Rugby tournament. Walking in through the entrance I noticed several things, the first thing being the amount of teams that were participating in this tournament. I also noticed the way that the muddy ground beneath my feet was moving. Additionally I noted that there were 6 possible fields that games could take place on. I knew I was in for a long day. After that we made our way through ongoing games, concession stands, and other traveling teams to get to our tent. These tents were set up all around the fields from the participating teams and vendors. As we made our way to our first game we had to cut through the other teams tents and make our way across the back end of the field to get to our destination which was field number 5. In a tough battle we won our first game of the tournament in a competitive 21-14 game. We then had to shake hands and make our way on to the next game which took place on field 2. Using the same path we had taken before we made it to our second game with 20 minutes until the second game began. While we were preparing for the next game I could hear the voices of everyone around me shouting and cheering at the game being played in the field in front of me. Although it was a rainy and windy day, the feeling of playing and winning in games in these conditions is something that most players live for.

Questions Jarrett
As a student athlete how much pressure are you under?
Has the stress of being a student athlete ever made you want to quit your sport?
How do you combat stress and anxiety as a student athlete ?
Is there any advice you would give to a student athlete battling stress?
Intro: Hello, and welcome back to the After Darc podcast. I am your host, as always, Tony D’Arcangelo. Today we are going to be discussing the topic of college athletes dealing with and possibly succumbing to the immensely stressful work life balance that they have.
As student athletes get to college sports they are forced to deal with an extreme work/life balance that can negatively affect their health. Today I am sitting down with Jarrett Lamoreaux, a junior football player at Plymouth State. I have also spoken to licensed therapist James Cameron, who has worked with countless athletes over his thirty year career.

( change gears and move into next narration)
Now that we have heard from JC, we are going to hear about how an athlete battles stress from an athlete’s perspective.

What is going well for me was the fact that I was able to get ahead of my recordings and find the music. I found that having that plan as well as conducting my first interview at the beginning of the week was very helpful. I am very happy and fortunate with how I set myself up for this project and I am feeling very confident in the product so far. The only thing that is needing improvement is finding adequate times to get my final interview completed. With that being said I am confident in the content of this project but I am worried about meeting the three interview minimum because of these time constraints.
5 Podcasts
-
- Intro 15-35 Seconds (Scripted) Hello, and welcome back to the After Darc podcast, I am your host, as always Tony D’Arcangelo. Today we are going to be reviewing 5 of my podcasts this year and comparing and contrasting them.
- Transition to Podcast 1 (Scripted) The first podcast that we will cover is the outdoor walking tour. I think this project went well overall but capturing that audio in the rain was a less than ideal circumstance.
- Outdoor walking tour
- Transition to Podcast 2 (Scripted) This podcast in particular was one of if not my favorite one from this year! I really enjoyed that I could be funny and make this podcast in the style of Family Guy while doing my Peter griffin voice.
- Audio self Portrait
- Transition to Podcast 3 (Scripted) This podcast was another one that I really enjoyed but it didn’t come without some difficulty. This interview was conducted twice because the audio recording from the initial phone call didn’t process. The benefit of that is that I was able to have a much better interview with my cousin. It was much more relaxed and had a nicer flow to it than the original interview.
- Family Podcast
- Transition to Podcast 4 (Scripted) Overall interviewing my mom for this project was a good decision. The only issue I had was having too much information. Trying to find the best bits of information to use. I found that there was a lot of information that could’ve worked with three different subtopics and still had a completed podcast.
- Expert Assignent
- Transition to Podcast 5 (Scripted) I really liked covering this topic but unfortunately I was not able to get as many perspectives as required for the assignment. Unfortunately, one of my interviewees no showed the interview and I wasnt able to find a replacement in time. If I was able to get that then I believe that the podcast as a whole would’ve been better. The thing that I find most valuable form this podcast is the testament of licensed therapist, James Cameron.
- Scripted Story
- Outro 15-35 Seconds (Scripted) Thank you all so much for listening over this past semester! Thank you to all who contributed to the makings of these podcasts. Special shoutout to Susann Gouin, Megan McPartland, James Cameron, and Jarrett Lamoreaux!

The portfolio podcast assignment was to compare and contrast five of the podcasts assignments that we were assigned this year. Students were asked to reflect on their work in the transitions in between the chosen podcasts as well as make any adjustments to the audio of the podcasts being covered. The podcasts that I chose were the scripted story, family interview, expert interview, self portrait in costume, and the outdoor walking tour. I chose these podcasts because they all had either a level of creativity that I enjoyed or that they had valuable or compelling stories. Throughout this semester I have enjoyed giving people a platform to express themselves and share a part of themselves to the world. Overall, my favorite podcast from this year was the family interview. I enjoyed that podcast a lot because I think that there is a really good story behind it. The way that my cousin has a passion for what she does really can draw people to listen. This summer I am going to be reworking the podcast and helping her make an advertisement for her business. With her industry having a not phenomenal reputation, she is the right person to humanize it and get rid of the negative opinions the people may have. As an honorable mention I really enjoyed the self portrait in costume podcast. I liked the way that I was able to attempt to be funny at it, I usually don’t show that level of humor in my schoolwork but I’m happy that I was able to for this podcast. The only thing that I wish that I did differently for this podcast was include the iconic Peter Griffin laugh. In conclusion, I think that a good portion of the podcasts that I did this year have a lot of potential, and because I want to do podcasts as a career I want to go back in and perfect them.
